The City of Kwinana engaged Tracc Civil as the principalcivil works contractor to convert the existing T-junction at Wellard Road andHenley Boulevard into a roundabout. Located beside Peter Carnley AnglicanCommunity School, the project required careful coordination around schooltraffic, residents, road users and existing services.

Tracc Civil’s scope included:

  • Clearing and demolition
  • Earthworks and pavement widening
  • Stormwater drainage modifications
  • Subgrade preparation
  • Limestone subbase and basecourse
  • In-situ foam bitumen stabilisation
  • Asphalt, kerbing and line marking
  • Footpaths and stencil concrete
  • Street lighting
  • Landscaping and reinstatement

Tracc Civil worked with the City of Kwinana to move thecritical intersection works into the Christmas school holiday period. Thetendered 16-week staged traffic program was replaced with an approximatelyfive-week construction period, reducing disruption before normal school trafficreturned.

Two drainage crews were used to protect the pavementprogram. Approximately 500 m³ of existing pavement material was also reusedthrough foam bitumen stabilisation, reducing disposal and imported materialrequirements.

When external street-lighting timing placed the openingprogram at risk, Tracc Civil sourced available lighting stock and used itsinternal Western Power-accredited team to complete the installation andenergisation. The roundabout opened fully lit on 2 February 2026, withPractical Completion certified on 5 February and no approved extensions oftime.

The project demonstrates Tracc Civil’s capability inaccelerated roadworks, drainage, pavement construction, electrical coordinationand practical delivery within a community-sensitive work area.
