Project Challenges:

Heavily fly tipped site with asbestos​

The site had 2 main open drains running through it. New piped drainage was required for the works. The open drains were required to remain operational until the new piped drain was installed.

Reclaim a operational compensating basin and then reconstruct the shape to new design.

Produce approx 5000m3 of rootzone material suitable for the future playing fields from the underlying substrate

Challenge Management:

Environmental management plan implemented the include a asbestos management plan be adhered to.​

Redirecting the open drains and managing the flows coming from the Welshpool industrial area to ensure the stormwater could continue through the site until the new pipe work was constructed.

Build bunds and redirect the water in the compensating basin to ensure the earthworks could be constructed to meet the spec.

Engage suitably qualified dewatering contractor and work closely with them in regard to installation, treatment and discharge.

Efficiently remove approx. 5000m3 over burden and place in areas requiring general fill to ensure no double handling. Test, grade and screen rootzone material to ensure it complied with the spec and place in suitable location ready for reuse.
